Cockroaches

My subjects of interest may range from an object to living beings like birds, dogs and other creatures which usually tend to be in abundance in my surroundings, being it the city. I initially start with drawing, photographing and studying the subject and at times the concept is not fully developed and only presents as vague sketches; it takes form and matures as the work proceeds. The choice of materials is dependent on cost and availability and most importantly on how they permit a freedom of form and expression which coincides with my idea.

I believe it is for the work to speak for itself and once the work is out of my atelier, it is no longer within my control what the work stands for. I always consider myself as the dead artist with no record of works done, and it’s for the onlooker to decide what to believe. It is the response of the viewer that defines the work.

"Art is not about art, art is about life" (Louise Bourgeois).
